The reader’s question:
Hey, Wally, I’ve got a 64-bit edition of Windows 10. I recently installed the latest version of Office 365 (32 bits).
I have a problem with the expression perspective. The problem I have is I can’t sign autographs.
When I try to create a new signature, Outlook freezes and then shuts down. It’s a new facility! Did I miss something? I’m very confused. Any help would be appreciated. – Lisa D., Canada
Before solving a computer problem, I always recommend scanning and correcting the underlying problems that affect the health and performance of your PC:
- Step 1 : Download the PC repair and optimization program (WinThruster for Win 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000 – Microsoft Gold Certified).
- Step 2 : Click the Start scan button to detect problems in the Windows registry that may cause problems with the PC.
- Step 3 : Click the Restore All button to solve all problems.
Setting up automatic weekly (or daily) scanners will help you avoid system problems and get your PC up and running quickly and smoothly.
Wally’s answer: You may have read an earlier article about the same problem. If not, click here to read it.
The Signature (and Fixed and Fonts) button is grayed out in Outlook 2016 on Windows 10.
This problem is more common on computers that have a 64-bit version of Windows 10 installed.
According to Microsoft, this problem may occur if the application and the normal version of Outlook are installed on your computer at the same time.
Follow the steps described in this article to correct the error.
See our previous article that solves the same problem.
Removing register keys for office installation
Some remaining registry keys may cause this error even after uninstalling the Windows version of Outlook applications from your computer.
You can optimize the registry with WinThruster to ensure that similar problems do not recur in the future.
Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Type Regedit and press Enter to start the registry editor.
Pay attention: Be sure to back up the registry before making any changes.
You can do this by clicking on File and then Export.
You can use this file to restore the registry by clicking File, clicking Import and selecting the previously exported file.
Press Ctrl+F to call the Search dialog box and paste the next set of numbers, as shown below.
Click Continue Search and delete all search results by right-clicking Delete.
After deleting the first search result, press F3 to repeat the search.
Continue until all entries with the above string are deleted.
Now restart the computer and check if it works.
If this doesn’t work, proceed to the next solution.
Assigning the correct paths to registry keys in Outlook
The registry may still contain incorrect (default) values and LocalServer32 values.
To fix this, you need to assign the correct paths to the registry keys in your Outlook installation.
Tip: Copy and paste the specified registry path into the address bar of the registry editor for quick navigation.
You must do this manually if you selected the custom path when installing Office / Outlook on your computer.
Set the default path by executing theregistry script.
You can click on one of the following links to automatically set the correct path.

Is your PC in good health?
I always advise my readers to regularly use a reliable registry cleaner and optimizer such as WinThruster or CCleaner. Many of the problems that arise can be attributed to a corrupt and inflated register.
