If you’re looking for a quality fitness watch, Garmin Vivoactive and Fitbit Surge should be on your list of serious considerations. Both kits come with a list of features and offer comfort with excellent functionality.
Garmin is considered the leader in sports watches to wear, but other companies, such as Fitbit, are doing their best to bring the best products to market for their share of glory.
Of course Fitbit is no stranger in the market for replaceable clothing and always offers quality products with better performance with every new model.
In what follows, I compare the main options of waterproof fitness trackers with the main criteria.
Vivo splash water activity – decrease
Appearance
Fitbit Surge is more retro than Vivoactive and actually looks like something from the seventies. The striking surface does not extend beyond the belt line and has a relatively clear design with a stainless steel tripod.
In fact, Garmin has a similar look, but it has a more distinctive and larger face with a slightly different design than the band. Honestly, neither watch is that impressive, but that’s not their goal either.
The winner is: Garmin Vivoactive thanks to the design and slightly more pleasant face of the group
Comfort
Both models are surprisingly long and comfortable to wear. Fitbit seems to know how to make practical and smart watches like the Flex and the Fitbit Charge.
Vivoactive is thin, light and much less bulky than other Garmin models, but the increased square footage doesn’t match Surge’s comfort. In fact, the starting material weighs about 25% more than Vivoactive, but it is slightly more pleasant.
The winner: Harmonic Fitbit
Display
Interactive display
The Vivoactive is equipped with a colour LCD touch screen with adjustable backlight and a large 1.13 x 0.80 inch display.
Fitbit Gust Display
Surge features a monochrome LCD touch screen with multiple settings and a size of 0.82 x 0.96 inches.
Surge’s touch screen looks a little faster and smoother than Vivoactive’s, but you can’t get around the black and white screen with its ugly eyes.
The winner: Garmin Vivoactive with color screen and large screen
Characteristics
Keeping an eye on sleep
With Fitbit, automatic standby tracking is enabled. It works incredibly well and you’ll be amazed at the feeling you can get when you sleep, even for a few minutes. It provides a basic analysis with a breakdown of sleep periods and sleep duration.
Garmin Sleep Tracking has a graph that shows you the anxiety states at night and the ability to set alarms to wake you up.
Nothing will surprise or surprise you, but they are functional and provide basic information.

Heart rate monitor
Garmin watches are equipped with additional pulsometers via chest ECG strips. This chest strap is the most accurate way to control heart rate and power. However, Surge comes with an integrated heart rate monitoring system.
Your system monitors your BPM activity and calorie consumption (calorie burning rate) so you can track your heart rate around the clock. Although the Garmin method is not as accurate, the ability to continuously measure heart rate offers 24 benefits.
The winner: Harmonic Fitbit
Supervision of physical activities
Garmin Vivoactive records and tracks steps, distances, calories burned, number of steps, activity or training time and provides external pulsometers. Fitbit Surge covers all these areas, with the exception of the integrated heart rate monitor.
The choice of the solution that’s best for you depends heavily on the accuracy of the external heart rate monitor or the continuous monitoring of the integrated system provided by Surge. We preferred the integrated system because it is convenient and allows us to view data from all periods of activity or inactivity.
The winner: Built-in overvoltage comfort
Sport
Garmin is a clear winner in the sports category because it offers a wide selection of special sports, indoor and outdoor modes and active GPS tracking. In addition, Vivoactive offers excellent real-time speed monitoring, where you can choose between Mph and Kph.
While Surge is not necessarily absent from the sports section, it doesn’t offer real-time speed registration or some of the little details that Garmin offers.

GPS
Garmin has long been a household name in the GPS market, so it would be natural to assume that the functionality of the GPS system on Vivoactive will be better. However, if you assume that you are partly wrong, because in reality the two wear-resistant materials offer very similar GPS systems.
Depending on where you are, the signal strength may be slightly better or worse for a particular model, but the overall performance is almost identical.
The winner: Binding
Battery life
Garmin Vivoactive indicates that it can take up to three weeks in active mode or up to ten hours in addition to GPS mode. If you use the GPS one or two days a day and use other functions at a moderate level, the battery is likely to last 6 to 8 days between charges.
Surge offers up to five full days without GPS and only five hours of continuous GPS use. At a comparable activity level, the Surge will probably only give you 3 days between costs. In terms of battery life, Vivoactive wins here.

Annex
Surge offers the ability to view historical data to track sleep, fitness and calories and comes with barcode scanning enabled. The application works with applications for iOS, Windows and Android. Garmin uses Connect IQ, an API-based application to develop information applications for sports and other topics.
This means that Garmin is constantly offering new and evolving features and functions, which is very important. Vivoactive is a clear winner here thanks to its ability to constantly update itself and obtain new features.
The winner: Garmin Vivoactive

This is an important point if you have a budget.
Usually Garmin Vivoactive sells for $249, but I was able to make it…

The Fitbit Surge is slightly more expensive and costs about $300.

but it’s still usually $30 to $40 more than VivoActive. It’s not a big difference, but it’s not unimportant.

Stop– Vivo Active versus Fitbital Splash
Neither Surge nor Vivoactive will impress you with their appearance, but both are very beautiful and offer excellent equipment for fitness and sock enthusiasts. The choice between these two options is difficult, and some stem from purely personal preferences for functions such as external monitoring with an integrated heart monitor.
However, while Surge drew three categories of winners, Surge made a random draw.
Interactive localization
just better than the other categories. Vivoactive also won several categories that are crucial for the user’s daily work with clothing, such as display, application and battery life.
Not to mention that VivoActive is also cheaper (

These categories largely determine how satisfied you will be with your daily use of clothing. That’s why we must reward Garmin Vivoactive with a clear victory.
Both products are comparable in price and appearance, so your solution is mainly reduced to the daily functionality of the product. Whatever product you choose, both are excellent choices and offer users a unique wearing experience.
